Methil Devika is an Indian Classical dancer and exponent of the dance form of Mohiniyattam which is Kerala’s indigenous solo dance form. She is a recipient of National Awards like the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (Central Sangeet Natak Academy, Delhi) and the Devadasi Award (Government of Odisha). She received the Kerala State Award for Mohiniyattam and the Best Dancer Award from Madras Music Academy for the Mid-Year Festival. She is empanelled with SPIC-MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth, Delhi) and the ICCR (Indian Council of Cultural Relations, New Delhi). An ‘A’ Grade Artiste for Doordarshan (National TV Broadcasting Service), Devika has been hosted by the Indian High Commissions/Embassies in various countries for her solo recitals, lec-dems and paper-presentations. Her performances have been primarily at prestigious festivals and proscenium stages like the Khajuraho International Dance Festival and Madras Music Academy respectively. Apart from major festivals in India she has given solo concerts in the US, Switzerland, Australia, Laos, Taiwan, Thailand and the Gulf countries.
